Honourable WM. MEIGH GOODMAN,
122
Hongkong, 76th July, 1891.
Acting Colonial Secretary.
Sir.
In answer to Acting Colonial Secretary's letter of 16th December last, we have the honor to inclose copies in triplicate of case between the Government and ourselves, in reference to the resumption of portion of Inland Lot No. 671, and to request that His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government will have the goodness to forward the same for the consideration of the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies.
Very great delay has taken place on both sides in this correspon- dence. Upon our part this has been caused by a firm hope of an ultimate recognition and compensation of our claim by the Government; and latterly from an unwillingness to give unnecessary trouble to those who are in no way responsible for the difficulty which has arisen.
Referring also to our letter of 12th ultimo, covering copies in triplicate of case in reference to proposed increase of Crown rental upon our Farm Lot No. 59, which we also requested that His Excellency General BARKER would transmit to the Right Honourable Lord KNUTSFORD, we inclose herewith attested copies of Crown Leases of Farm Lots Nos. 23 and 59 belonging thereto, and we shall be obliged if you will favor us with information when the papers in either case have been forwarded.
We have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient Servants,
(Sd) SHARP & Co.
P.S.-Application has been made to the Land Office for attested copies of Crown Leases of Farm Lots Nos. 23 and 59 and Inland Lot No. 671, but these have not yet been received.
